I was bad!

The Ranch was good!

I am redeemed!

I grew up in a Christian family with parents that did not drink.  At the age of 15 I made a choice to get drunk for the first time.  From that point on I took on the label as the “fun and funny drunk guy”.  Many years went by some good, some bad. But even in the good years I was still missing something.  In 2010 I got my first and second DWI.  At this point, my life was a wreck.

I was introduced to a man named Rich that just loved on me and helped me find peace and joy in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Through that relationship, and surrendering all my burdens to Jesus, I was delivered from alcohol.  The last 5 years the Lord has blessed my work, my life and sent me a God-loving wife that is my biggest supporter and best friend.

I want to finish with this: Man says I’m a recovering alcoholic.  No, this is a lie from the enemy because God’s word says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”  So don’t take on the label man puts on you.  Listen and read what God has to say about you.  You are loved, heirs to the throne, child of the King of Kings, redeemed, set free, no longer a slave to the old life.

God used Rich Harmsen and The Ranch Ministries to teach me just that, to teach me my true identity in Christ.  Lance G

My name is Matthew Erwin.  I am a 61 year old ex-truck driver, turned steel worker.  I am also a born again child of the King.  Most of my teen years and all of my adult life I have struggled with life issues.  Mainly substance abuse through alcohol and drugs, low self esteem and relationships.  In November of 2010 I was involved in a catastrophic motor vehicle accident which ended my driving career with that company.  My body was so broken-up that I was unable to work at all.  It nearly killed me.  I found myself at a place where I needed to make some decision in my own life.  I could continue trusting myself, which didn’t seem to be working out very well, or I could choose to trust God and begin seeking the knowledge of His will for my life.  I called Rich.  Rich and I met five days a week at the warehouse and we read the book of Proverbs.  This was a wonderful time of conversation, prayer and study that gave me much needed hope.  I came to believe that God had a plan and I was in it.  I also learned that He had forgiven me for the wrong that I had done and He wanted to bless me.  My girlfriend and I attended couple bible study at the Harmsen’s and have met many other believers who became friends.  The men’s meeting is really great.  It’s informal and relaxed but totally scriptural in context.  We watch videos on various materials and then discuss what we have seen and heard.  It helps me stay in The Word and builds my faith.  For me, men talking, praying and studying The Word is the best way for men to hold each other accountable.  God has known me all the days of my life.  I don’t have to explain anything to Him.  Thru spending time with Rich and the other men, as well as reading my Bible I have come to believe that everything begins and ends with God.  Today Matt is healed, delivered and set free.  He worships at the throne of God.  Matt went home to be the LORD on  February 1, 2014.
